First Birthday Party

Savannah Kate's first birthday was a nursery rhyme theme.  I had so much fun planning for this party and matching nursery rhymes with food and decorations.  Of course, the first party had to be a big deal!  We were so blessed to celebrate with family, old friends, and our new Texas friends and neighbors.  Savannah Kate had a great time eating cake, playing with her friends and opening her presents.  Here are the party pictures:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Hickory Dickory Dock
Itsy Bitsy Spider
Mary Mary quite contrary, How does your garden grow?
What are little girls made of?Sugar and spice and everything nice
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Pat-a-cake, Pat-a-cake Baker's Man
This little piggy

Opening my present from my cousins
Later that afternoon we let Savannah Kate open all her birthday gifts.  It was so fun!  It gave me a glimpse of what Christmas morning will be like :)  Thank you for all the gifts!

First Cake

A couple days before Savannah Kate's party we gave her an early birthday cake.  It was so cute to see her dive into the cake.  I think she thought it was more of a toy to play in instead of something to eat, either way it was really fun to watch!

12 months

Weight: 17 pounds 6 ounces (5th percentile)
Height: 28 inches (10th percentile)
Diapers: Size 3
Clothes: 6-12 months
Sleep: 10-12 hours at night with 2 naps during the day
Current loves: playing with her baby dolls, crawling in and out of her new chair and biting everything including us!
Dislikes: taking medicine, going to bed without being rocked (trying to break this habit) and getting in the highchair without food already on the tray
Teeth: 4 total - 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom

Savannah Kate is one!  I can't believe a year has already gone by.  My baby is not a baby anymore.  I've had a little bit of a hard time accepting that, but I love seeing her grow into a happy, healthy toddler.  I have so much to be thankful for and I look forward to all that Savannah Kate will teach me in the next year.

Since last month, SK has started cruising - which is walking around while holding on to something like furniture or the kitchen cabinets.  She can also walk behind her rolling toys while holding on.  She got several of these types of toys for her birthday and it didn't take her long to figure out that she could walk and push them around.

I'm happy to report that Savannah Kate now likes to drink water.  After several months of trying, she is finally drinking water out of a sippy cup!  Now, I'm working on getting her switched from formula to whole milk (which is not going well so far), then hopefully she'll start drinking milk from a sippy cup as well.  She's eating so much better now, but strawberries and cheerios continue to be her favorites.

SK made it almost a whole year without getting an ear infection and the week before her party she got a double ear infection and had to take antibiotics for the first time.  Giving her the medicine everyday was terrible!  Luckily, it worked and within a week she was all better just in time for the party :)

Party pictures will be on the next post!
