Last night, Savannah Kate tried her first bite of rice cereal! She seemed very excited about trying something new to eat. She's been staring at us while we eat lately so it seemed like she was ready. I'm not sure she actually swallowed any of the cereal, but it was fun to practice using a spoon. After awhile I finally put the cereal in her bottle so that she could actually get it down. I swear that was the fastest I've ever seen her take a bottle and she was smacking her lips afterwards, so I think she liked it. We'll keep trying everyday with a spoon so I'm sure it won't be long until she figures it out!

Daffodils
While we were visiting my family last week, I went to Wye Mountain in Bigelow, AR with my mom, my sister and her 3 boys (Carter 7, Caden 3, and Charlie 6 months). There is a huge field of daffodils that blooms there every year and it's a great place to get some beautiful pictures. Caden was being really silly in most of the pictures and Carter just loved holding Savannah Kate and being so sweet to her. Here are some of my favorites:

5 months
Last Tuesday, Savannah Kate and I boarded a plane to Little Rock to spend the week with my family. This was her first flight and she did great! She just looked around at everybody during the flight and never made a sound. I had been worried if being in the air was going to hurt her ears because she had just gotten over her very first sickness, RSV. It was so sad to see her sick and knowing that I couldn't do anything to help her feel better. I was so thankful she had gotten well in time for our trip.
While we were visiting Savannah Kate turned 5 months old! She is now just under 12 pounds, wearing 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. She seems to really notice her surroundings now and is very aware when mommy leaves the room. She loves to watch us eat - it makes her laugh everytime! She is only a month away from being able to start eating food. She loves to watch Belle run around and loves grabbing her toes. Tonight she was trying very hard to get them in her mouth! It's a trick that she learned from her friend Luke today :)

4 Month Check Up
Today was Savannah Kate's 4 month check up. She now weighs 11 pounds and 5 ounces (which is in the 9th percentile) and her height is 23 3/4" (30th percentile). She is a little tyke! We just now started wearing 3 month clothes and can still wear many 0-3 month clothes too. She's still in size 1 diapers - I've tried to move her up to size 2, but they are just too big for now. Our Pediatrician, Dr. Neely, said that she looks great and even though she is little she has fat in all the right places: legs, belly and chin. She had her second round of immunizations today - which made her scream again... Luckily, I didn't cry this time though!
Savannah Kate is such a joy right now. I can tell that she is starting to find her personality and she is always so happy. She loves to smile and laugh especially at mommy. One of her favorite things to do is to watch people talk - she just thinks it's hilarious! Other loves: looking in the mirror, looking at her toys, watching Belle, laying under the activity gym and reaching for the toys, listening to mommy read a book, taking baths, and her changing table - this is seriously her most favorite place to be in the entire house. I think she just enjoys looking at all those hair bows that she will someday where (whenever she grows some hair). She still sleeps around 10 to 11 hours at night and takes 3 naps during the day. We're working on getting her to go to bed earlier, because she seems to think she's a night owl right now. She's been such a good baby and such joy - we are truly, truly blessed.

Mavericks Game
Savannah Kate and I went to our first NBA game last weekend. The Mavericks were playing the Atlanta Hawks and they won! Although, I'm not much of a basketball fan I really had fun. It was very entertaining, with lots of music and fun games at every timeout. We were in the top deck but you could still see great. Savannah Kate just stared at the huge scoreboard most of the time. I was worried how she would do because it was pretty loud, but she managed to take a nap during part of the game so I guess it didn't bother her too much. Our pictures didn't turn out great, but we had so much fun and will definitely be going to another game sometime.
Ice Storm
This past week was pretty eventful. We got rain on Monday night that turned into ice on Tuesday morning. It seemed like all of Dallas pretty much shut down on Tuesday, even the airport was closed due to the ice. It snowed pretty much all day Tuesday. I just couldn't believe we were having a snow/ice storm in Dallas - I thought we had left all that behind in Northwest Arkansas. The weather situation was all over the news everyday because of all of the Super Bowl events going on in town.
Although I wasn't too surprised about the weather because Wednesday was my birthday and for as long as I can remember we almost always had snow or some kind of winter weather on my birthday. As a little girl - this was the one day I actually liked going to school so I would be pretty bummed to have to stay at home and miss out on birthday party. Hunter had plans to take me to a nice restaurant for dinner, but we just decided it wasn't worth getting out on the dangerous roads. And Savannah Kate didn't seem to be feeling too good so I hated to leave her. Hunter ordered us some Italian takeout along with some Sprinkles cupcakes and we watched Beauty and the Beast. Can you believe that Hunter had never seen it before? Savannah Kate loved all the music and it was really fun to see an old favorite movie again. Even though we were stuck at home I still had a great birthday and I'm very excited to learn how to use my new sewing machine! Maybe next ice storm, I can make a quilt.
So the ice storm continued and we ended up being cooped up inside for 5 days! Good thing we had plenty of food and diapers. We had more snow on Friday - around 5 to 6 inches. It finally started to melt on Saturday and Hunter and I got to go have a late birthday celebration. It was so nice to get out! Savannah Kate didn't seem to mind staying at home and Belle was excited about the snow, we could hardly get her to come back inside. Although we were stuck inside all week, we were blessed to never lose our heat and electricity. I turned 28 (that's getting closer to 30...) and Savannah Kate turned 4 months this week. Here's a few pictures:

I Can Roll!
On Friday, January 28th, Savannah Kate rolled over for the first time! I had her laying in the floor on her stomach under an activity gym and she kept rolling over on to her side, but her arm would get stuck under her body. This activity gym is her absolute favorite thing right now so I think she was pretty determined to get on her back so she could see the toys. Mimi and Pawpaw had come to visit and we were all watching her and talking about how it seemed as if she was trying to roll over. Before we knew it she had figured out how to move her arm out of the way and rolled over onto her back! It was so funny because it really seemed to surprise her and she immediately started laughing. I hurried and grabbed my phone and captured the third roll on video. I think she will enjoy tummy time a little more now that she knows how to get back over to her back :) When she's on her back she can get get half way over, but not a full roll yet. It almost looks like she's doing side abdominal crunches. She really seemed to be working on this yesterday so I'm sure it won't be long...
