I Can Roll!

On Friday, January 28th, Savannah Kate rolled over for the first time!  I had her laying in the floor on her stomach under an activity gym and she kept rolling over on to her side, but her arm would get stuck under her body.  This activity gym is her absolute favorite thing right now so I think she was pretty determined to get on her back so she could see the toys.  Mimi and Pawpaw had come to visit and we were all watching her and talking about how it seemed as if she was trying to roll over.  Before we knew it she had figured out how to move her arm out of the way and rolled over onto her back!  It was so funny because it really seemed to surprise her and she immediately started laughing.  I hurried and grabbed my phone and captured the third roll on video.  I think she will enjoy tummy time a little more now that she knows how to get back over to her back :)  When she's on her back she can get get half way over, but not a full roll yet.  It almost looks like she's doing side abdominal crunches.  She really seemed to be working on this yesterday so I'm sure it won't be long...

First Christmas

This post is way overdue, I'm desperatly trying to catch up on my blog.  It's so easy to get behind since Savannah Kate seems to keep me pretty busy.  Our first Christmas together was so fun.  I was more excited about opening her gifts then my own and loved getting her dressed in different Christmas outfits.  We spent Christmas day at my parent's house and then headed to Tenneessee for a few days.  I have lots of pictures - I just couldn't resist.  We talked about how crazy it is that this time next year she will be running around and opening her gifts by herself!  I can't wait!

 She just couldn't stay awake

 New toys!

Her favorite thing about this shirt was that she could chew on the red bow

Santa

Savannah Kate met Santa for the first time and she did great.  She actually met two different Santas.  One here in Dallas and the other in Bryant at my sister's school.  We couldn't get her to smile, but atleast she was awake :)

Christmas Card

First Christmas Card:

Amber McAdoo of McAdoo Photography took these beautiful pictures and designed this Christmas card for us.  This is just a scanned image so it doesn't do justice for how amazing it really looks.  I just loved the Santa suit.  I have that picture blown up so that I can get it out at Christmas every year.  I realized that now that I have a child Christmas cards are a whole lot more fun to put together :)

I also have the picture of Savannah Kate on the couch with the red bow blown up and it's now hanging in our living room.  What I love most about this picture is that I have a maternity picture of me laying on this exact same couch when she was still in my tummy.  I couldn't wait to meet her then and now can't imagine life without Savannah Kate.

Sleeping in the crib

The night before leaving for our Christmas break we decided to let Savannah Kate sleep in her room in her crib for the first time.  It was really strange for me not to have her right next to me that night.  She had been sleeping in her pack-n-play next to my side of the bed ever since we brought her home from the hospital.  I got up to check on her a couple of times, but she slept great.  I think she loves her crib.  Ever since then she has slept in her crib every night and is sleeping great.  At 9 weeks she was sleeping 8 hours and then within a few weeks she was at 10 hours most nights which has been so nice!  It had been so long since I'd slept a full night.

Here's some pictures I took of her first night in the crib.

Camping and Canton

Last weekend was Savannah Kate and cousin Charlie's first camping trip.  Our family loves to go to Canton,TX to the Monday Trade Days.  It's basically a huge craft fair where you can find just about anything you could ever want to buy from furniture to clothes to baby hair bows.  I got most of the decorations in Savannah Kate's nursery there such as her bedding and the rug.  It's an interesting experience to go to the first Monday Trade Days.  There are thousands of people and campers in all the parking lots.  We've learned that it's much more convenient to camp instead of getting a hotel.  That way you can be close enough to take breaks (especially when you take babies) and you can unload all your great purchases without having to go all the way across town to a hotel - which means you can buy more :)  It's so busy that you either have to get there really early or reserve a camping spot in order to get a good place.  And don't worry they have all the hookups that you need, even cable TV.  The vendors are extremely friendly and you can always bargain for good deals, but I'm not very good at that part yet.  I get better each time I go.  If you go to Canton just one time you will be hooked and you will want to bargain for everything you buy.  Too bad you can't do that everywhere.  Luckily, I've moved to Dallas and I'm only about an hour away from Canton now.

Here's a picture of Charlie and Savannah Kate sleeping in the camper.  Most of the time we had them in the strollers while shopping and they would sleep or just look around.  They got lots of compliments.  Several people take their kids, but you see a lot of dogs.  These are of course dogs that seem to be these people's children because they will even have them in dog strollers!

Here's my new favorite necklace I had made at Canton

2 months

Yesterday was Savannah Kate's two month checkup.  She now weighs 9 pounds and 13 ounces and is 21 1/4 inches in length.  She had to get her first round of vaccinations in the form of 3 shots in the leg and one oral vaccination.  I knew this was coming so I tried to prepare myself, but as soon as I saw her scream I immediately started crying.  As soon as it was over the nurse put her back in my arms and we cried together.  Thankfully, it didn't take us too long to settle down. The shots seemed to make her pretty fussy last night. We gave her Tylenol for the first time and she made the funniest face at the taste of it. Oh how I look forward to more shots at the next check up.
